Mr. CHEA Marong, Consultant
Marong joined BDLINK as a Consultant in September 2007.
Marong has a Master of Science (MSc.) from Kyushu University in Japan, specialising in Agricultural and Resource Economics. At the National Institute of Management, he completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Marketing and almost completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management. He also has a Bachelor of English from the Institute of Foreign Languages.
Prior to joining BDLINK in September 2007, Marong worked for several years with some of Cambodia’s leading research institutes, including the Economic Institute of Cambodia (EIC) and the Cambodian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI). He has also worked as a local consultant in the field of rural development for a project funded by AusAID, Cambodia. In these various roles, Marong developed his expertise in the areas of rural development, assessment of the socioeconomic conditions and knowledge of Cambodia’s business/investment climate.
Since joining BDLINK, Marong has played a key role in several major research projects. He is currently involved in the MPDF Provincial Business Simplication (PBS) project undertaken in Siem Reap province. The objective of PBS is to review existing business regulation, registration and licensing in Siem Reap, with a view to identifying ways to improve the business environment. In addition, he is the lead consultant on a major project evaluation exercise for international donors. He also plays an advisory role on some of BDLINK’s other projects, including the Youth Employment Project.
Marong has strong skills in data collection, statistical analysis and management science. This includes regression analysis, linear programming, financial analysis, forecasting techniques, project management techniques and network models.
Marong has worked constructively with a variety of stakeholders, including international donors, NGOs, government agencies, associations, farmers, large companies and SMEs. Marong is a member of the Cambodian Economic Association (CEA). He speaks Khmer and English. |
