SELECTED PROJECT SUMMARIES
BDLINK has worked with clients on a wide range of projects, some of which are described below:
Socio-Economic Studies:
Youth employment and social dialogue, International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Cambodian Federation of Employers and Business Associations (CAMFEBA) Funded Project
BDLINK conducted a comprehensive study of 2,500 youth and employers. The aim was to investigate the challenges faced by youth in developing their skills and finding employment, as well as the challenges faced by employers in recruiting youth with appropriate skills. Based on the results of this large survey of youth and employers, BDLINK wrote a report on the main findings and recommendations to key players in the labor market.
Employment for people with disabilities, NGO and Donor Agencies Funded Project
BDLINK team undertook a study on the employment market for people with disabilities. The aim of the project was to understand the reasons for companies employing or not employing people with disabilities, and to identify the barriers to these people gaining meaningful employment.
Women’s empowerment in Kampong Speu
Working with another consulting firm, BDLINK worked on a project to promote the empowerment of women in the Kampong Speu province. As part of this project, BDLINK conducted interviews with women, NGOs and employers in Kampong Speu.
Business Development:
Organizational review and business development for SMEs, NGO Funded Project
BDLINK worked with 10 small handicrafts businesses to review their business operations, marketing strategies, product pricing and accounting systems. The primary objective of this project was to help these businesses become financially sustainable.
Feasibility study on real estate project, Private Company Funded Project
In collaboration with another consulting firm, BDLINK conducted research and analysis on a new foreign investment for real estate project. Our staff contributed to analyze four alternative investment proposals, which involved extensive data collection and analysis, market research and interviews with potential customers, competitors and government officials.
Needs assessment of Technical Working Groups (TWGs), Leading Development Partner Funded Project
Working with the Council for Development of Cambodia (CDC), BDLINK conducted a Needs Assessment of the Technical Working Groups (TWGs) of different Ministries. BDLINK team conducted a survey of the various TWGs and provided a report to CDC which assessed the needs and capacity of each TWG in terms of aid management and co-ordination.
Provincial Business Simplification (PBS) in Siem Reap, International Finance Corporation (IFC), MPDF Funded Project
BDLINK consultant in collaboration with another consulting firm is currently working on a project to simplify business start-up procedure as well as improve business environment in Siem Reap province. Our staff has reviewed a number of existing business regulations, registrations and licensing issued by the public institutions. This project is involving stakeholder consultation, process mapping, consensus building to reduce time, cost and steps and information dissemination among government officers, businessmen, chamber of commerce, and business association.
Monitoring and Evaluation of Village Phone Initiative (VPI), GTZ-Private Sector Promotion Program and Leading Development Partner Funded Project
This project provided an assessment of Village Phone Initiative and Village Phone Operator to generate quantitative and qualitative indicators, anecdotal evidence and other useful information in order to assist in making decision how to move an initiative into the next stage. Also, the project aimed at providing a snapshot at telecom market, mobile phone market, and assessing the Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) in the next 3 to 5 years which affect an initiative as a whole. |
